Content Policy

The basics

Shakwa follows the same principles as Google Maps reviews, with stricter rules for the UAE. Where the two differ, the stricter rule applies. Respectful negative feedback is welcome.

Write about your own, real experience

Feedback must be about a genuine experience you had with that specific business. No fake reviews, no paid or incentivised reviews, no reviews of your own business, your employer, a relative's business or a competitor, and no multiple accounts.

Not allowed

Harassment, threats or hate speech. Other people's personal information (phone numbers, addresses, IDs). Profanity. Sexual, violent or dangerous content. Advertising, links or contact details. Off-topic content, spam or repeated posts. Pretending to be someone else.

Extra rules for the UAE

Describe the service, not people: don't name staff or any individual. Don't accuse anyone of a crime such as fraud, theft or scams, even if you believe it; report suspected crimes to the police or the relevant authority instead. No insults, even mild ones. No calls to boycott a business. Nothing about religion, the state, rulers, national symbols or politics, and nothing against public morals. No photos of people. Never offer to change your rating in exchange for a refund or anything else.

What happens if feedback breaks the rules

We hold it and tell you which rule may apply, so you can edit and resubmit. Repeated or serious breaches can lead to a warning, then a 7-day suspension, then account closure. Businesses that offer incentives or pressure customers face the same steps.

Reporting

Businesses and users can report content they believe breaks these rules. We review every report and record our decision.
